The points are left on the open gates of the skin for a total of 20 minutes, with the first 5 minutes being accompanied by a warm flushing sensation and increased heart rate that many may describe as pleasant. The remaining 15 minutes is where the discomfort typically sets in with flu-like symptoms and nausea that I will describe more in depth at the time of your session. This offering, though initially painful, is intended to assist the participant in entering a meditative, centered, and receptive state prior to receiving Kambo. There are many different blends of rapé that produce varying effects, but its main intent is quieting the mind, and bringing the recipient to a place of acute awareness and openness. Found in abundance in the Amazon basin, the frog’s secretion has traditionally been used by the Matsés tribe and other indigenous peoples in hunting rituals for its unique ability to disperse negative energy (panema), and increase strength and stamina. What began with meditation, yoga, and herbal supplements, morphed into an all-encompassing love for alternative medicine. I soon began walking the plant medicine path, where I was introduced to the great power of Kambo. I was trained in the facilitation of Kambo under Jason Fellows, and became a certified practitioner with Tribal Detox. Upon personal diagnosis of Lyme disease, I furthered my education of Kambo, and advanced my skills as a practitioner by completing Caitlin Thompson’s Lyme and Autoimmune Specialty Training.
